FAQS

Q: Since you're a beauty salon and massage spa, are your stylist specialised or just part of the team?

A: Our hair services are performed only by specialised, qualified stylists. Although Sunbury Hair & Beauty  offers a wide range of services, each team member offers the services he or she specialises in.

Q: If my hair stylist is not available when I need my haircut, should I wait, or should I use another stylist?

A: It’s your decision of course, but we’d like to assure you that all our stylists are talented, competent and experienced. Thus changing your hair stylist is risk-free.

Q: Can I walk in without an appointment?

A: Appointments are always recommended and can save you time. But if you walk in with no appointment we’ll do our best to serve you and fit you in. You can also give us a call on your way and we’ll let you know if we can fit you in.

Q: What product lines do you use?

A: Sunbury Hair & Beauty uses a wide range of hair products, from shampoos and conditioners to dyes, styling creams, pomades, waxes and sprays. We also use and sell organic facial, body and hair products – like PHYT’s Certified Organic skincare range, which has the only natural and certified organic chemical peel on the market. Also EverEscents Certified Organic hair care range and Bondi Sands, & Moroccan Tan. We are also very proud suppliers and users of Muk full colour range for all our hair colouring. Muk & Delorenzo styling products are sold and used in salon. We stock and match these products to your skin and / or hair needs.

Q: How often should I get my hair trimmed if I’m trying to grow it long?

A: We recommend to have it trimmed about every six to eight weeks. Since wet hair can stretch up to 30% of its length, be very careful if you cut it wet.

Q: How far in advance do I have to book your services before a wedding?

A: We recommend to have the initial trial services 2 to 3 months prior to your wedding day. This allows you to secure the stylist and makeup artist for the date of your wedding, as well as giving you time to make any changes to your haircut or color, should you choose to do so. As is standard in our industry we would require a 50% deposit at least 1 month prior to your special day. We are here to help make your most important of days one of relaxation and calm. This payment will assist you in the planning and balancing of your day.

Q: Is it possible to cut and color my hair on the same day?

A: Yes, of course. We suggest though that you schedule your color appointment first.

Q: How often should I get my haircut?

A: It depends on your type of hair, its length and so on. The best thing to do is to consult with your hair stylist the first time you get your haircut.

Q: What do I need to do for a tan and how long does it take?

A: First of all, any waxing or shaving should be done a day before the tan. When coming to the tan session, wear loose dark clothing to go home in. The tan will last for about 5-7 days if treated correctly. We recommend getting the tan 1-2 days before your special occasion.

Q: When should I wax my leg hair?

A: Leg hair should be about 1cm long for waxing.

Q: How often should I get a facial treatment?

A: There are no specific time limits. It usually depends on your skin type and condition. Most of our clients come in for a facial every 4-6 weeks.

Q: What can I expect after an extraction facial?

A: Right after the facial procedure, you may experience some redness on the extraction areas. Also, a mild peeling or flaking may occur a few days after the treatment.

Q: What results can I expect from a facial?

A: A better look, a cleaner and smoother face skin and a better feeling. Age spots and fine lines will likely be reduced, and a more uniform tone will be evident.

Q: How soon will I see results after a facial?

A: The results will show up immediately after the first treatment. Improvements will continue throughout your treatment program.

Q: How long does a facial treatment take?

A: The average time for a facial is 60 – 90 minutes.

Q: How would I feel after a massage?

A: You’ll feel great! A great sense of relaxation and balance. You’ll even feel a decrease of aches and muscle pains. Many feel a little slowed down for a short period and then notice an increase of energy, heightened awareness and increased productivity which can last for days.

Q: Can a massage hurt?

A: The main purpose of a massage is full body relaxation. A light, relaxing massage that doesn’t probe very deep into the muscles, shouldn’t hurt. But some massages – like sport massage, require higher pressure on muscles, which may hurt a bit.

Q: Do I have to do anything during the massage session?

A: No, just make yourself comfortable. If the massage therapist will want you to change your position she/he will instruct you to do so. You may remain quiet and relax, or you may want to talk with the therapist. It’s up to you.

Q: How often should I get a massage?

A: It depends on your body’s condition and the purpose of your massage. If you need occasional relaxation, then a session every 3-6 weeks may be fine for you. However, if you treat a special condition or sports muscles, then you should do it more frequently, at least at first. We recommend consulting with your therapist.
